Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again locked horns at the box office on November 1, right in the middle of Diwali.
While both films ended up doing well, the lead-up to their release saw some behind-the-scenes tension over screen allocation.
Bhushan Kumar, head of T-Series, explained that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 pushed for a 50-50 split of the screens since both films were considered big releases.
However, there was a sense of favoritism towards Singham Again, given that the theater chains distributing it had a stake in that film as well.
Despite this, Bhushan was reassured that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 would still get a fair share of screens and wouldn’t suffer any major losses.
The clash, however, was inevitable. Bhushan mentioned that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 couldn’t shift its release date because of prior commitments to OTT platforms, while Singham Again had to release during Diwali because of its Ramayana-inspired storyline. Both teams tried to avoid the clash, but in the end, neither could budge on their dates.
Despite the tension, both films ended up performing well at the box office. Bhushan, however, pointed out that such clashes between major films should be avoided in the future to ensure better business for all.
